Ok, mystery solved. I was bringing the unit up to attach it so we could see if it was still wanting to go in circles. It rattled strangely.
I opened it up and found a piece that is supposed to be attached to a gimbal inside had come off the pins that hold it there. We have no idea how that happened. I clicked it back where it should be and it works like normal. But thanks for all the input. We were about to work through the list of diagnostics provided by this fine group of Boatheads.
