My Universal M4-30 manual suggests longer glow plug time. Says place throttle at 1/3. Hold glow plug button for 30-60 seconds depending on outdoor temperature.
I suggest you subtract the ambient temperature from 120 and hold button that long before starting. It won't hurt anything to hold the glow plug button longer. It just heats up the block more. At 60 degrees, hold it 60 seconds. At 70 hold it 50 seconds. At 80, hold it 40. At 90, hold it 30 seconds. You will know you have the right time to hold it when the engine starts right up. I found that lately (last few weeks), I have problems starting. The motor kick in right away, but it does not stay up. It runs for a few seconds and quits. It then takes a few tries before it starts and I have to give it a bit more throttle. The weather is cooler lately (most of the summer we were above 25C); is this an issue? I start with the throttle at idle; about 15s of glow plugs. The motor is a Perkins M20 (2 cyl). Any ideas what I do wrong? thanks Marek _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com [email protected]
