I like the blade, heavy and light #1 for a frac rig boat. I raced for a few
years on a J29 frac and it was a great combination.
But on a masthead, I still think you can come out ahead with a #2 around 135%.
A lot depends on how high aspect the main is; higher aspect, more effective.
I raced on a 35-2 who didn't have a #2 so we dropped down to the jib after we
couldn't keep the main from flogging. Didn't have enough power up front and
had to pull the rudder way down to keep on track. That was slow. We could
have taken the extra heel from the 135 (we weren't over much with the jib) and
had a better balance on the rudder (back to the 3-6deg range).

Dennis,
I race on a J30. It is the only boat in the fleet that carries a 2. When the
wind kicked up to 18-20 Sunday we switched to the 2. Most boats went with a 3
while a couple stayed with with their 1. We led from start to finish! That
may be the exception, but it was fun!
I have a 135 on a furler, a #4 and a storm jib. My main has 3 reef points. I
hope to never use the trysail or the third reef.
