We went yesterday - it was very quiet (VIP day - a way to get more money from the public and let the vendor folks in for free) - many of the vendors were still setting up - drizzle most of the day. Had no problem getting to talk to just about anyone, except the monster cat people, they were all sitting around and vetting anyone who looked like an industry person. If you weren't wearing your thousand dollar rain jacket, they weren't inviting you on board.
Looked at a lot of smaller boats (like the J-80 I race on) and noticed some very clever sheeting and adjusting arrangements. Looked at a couple 30 or so footers and still can't come up with $200K justification to step into a boat with less room than my old 30-1. They all seem to want to crowd five or six berths and a nav table in that size boat - mine sleeps 4 and eats 6 and has a huge amount of storage in the lazerettes instead of little bitty claustrophobic quarter berths. And anything that talked performance had a 7 foot draft - not good over here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Oh well. The vendors I spoke to were happy with the traffic yesterday and today. I should be around Monday. I'm only about 10 minutes away (plus time to find a parking space!) Don't expect to board any boats either, though I love the atmosphere and seeing the different designs. I study all the neat details of the better designs for runners, backstays, folding footbraces, cockpit stuff, and I'll be shopping for a few parts as well. I may stay late and enjoy a pain killer and watch the take down after the show from the Mariott if anyone's around there? There was no sign of the C&C guys, and they were not listed as exhibitors. The C&C 101 is now the Tartan 101. Sailing anarchy has a drawing of a new C&C 30 racer on its home page. Looks like they are going after the Farr 30 crowd. Bought some Garhauer clutches, a winch handle, bag and various other stuff. Talked to the Harken guys about my traveler. They said they still sell all the bearings and shackles for the old cars. (The new cars don't fit.) They also have some old cars kicking around. Didn't board a single boat. -- Joel 301 541 8551 _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com [email protected] _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com [email protected] -- Joel 301 541 8551 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com [email protected]
