Same thing happens with my Volvo 30HP too.

Subject: Stus-List Oil Change - Yanmar 3GMF

Question for anyone who does their own oil change - specifically on a 3GMF
engine

Last year, frustrated with the lack of success / major effort in using a
cheapie vacuum pump. I splashed out for the 12v electric pump with bucket to
make changing the oil easier.

Although I am made sure the engine (and oil) was super, I was only able to
extract barely 2 of the 2.8 quarts that are supposed to be in the engine. I am
thinking that the fairly stiff pvc pipe used for extraction via the dip-stick
hole is somehow either not getting to the bottom of the pan (perhaps a baffle
in the way?) or is being turned upwards (and perhaps forward where there is
less oil due to the angle of the engine.

Would appreciate any tips / ideas on how I can extract more of the oil - short
of removing the sump plug.
