Just talked to the guy that works on them. He says those boats are a hull
and need everything else.

I don't think the auction boats are a good deal, unless you absolutely
wanted one of those particular hulls. The killer for me is the missing
winches. By the time you add them back in, the initial purchase price will
be around 50K, and there are a lot of project boats in that price range that
would require less work to equip and sail.

The new USCG boats (Leadership 44) are Morris Yachts built. Practical sailor
had a nice review while back...

 

The Naval Academy boats up for auction are MK1 with ultra utilitarian
interior which I do like...
