I got stuck in the mud one night just passed coinjock pretty bad, no tides
there. It was that first left bend. When you make that first left after the
stretch of straight waterway at coinjock. Trying to get myself out of the
mud not knowing if I’m in the channel or not was not fun. Took anchor
deployments, tilting the boat by rising the dinghy on the boom along the side,
etc…. I was muddy tired and miserable, about the say f** it and just go to bed
like that, but then I saw a huge tug come right by me too close for comfort.
They all appear bigger and closer all lit up in pitch black. He obviously
just went about his business probably laughing hi a88 off. By the wee hours of
the morning I was once again floating, and decided to go back to a slip in
coinjock and sleep for a while.

The next morning I was freaking out a little bit even in daylight going by the
scene of the “death trap”.

Andrew;

I don’t envy you about running the stretch through Currituck Sound and Coinjock
In the dark. Lots of shallow and narrow to look out for, even with little or no
wind last night.

Since you are likely to be taking a pause in Beaufort tonight, would you be
interested in getting together for a drink? I’d offer you and your owners
hospitality in Washington, but you are probably going to be south of here
before you see this message.

I'm on a Valiant 50. Bob Perry design. Giving a couple a little training on
operating the boat and sailing offshore. Right now we're entering Currituck
Sound, planning to go past Coinjock, NC and into Albemarle Sound and then the
Alligator River. We should hit the Alligator-Pungo Canal about sunup and carry
right on through to Beaufort, Nc, where we'll sit out a rather nasty low that's
coming up the coast with very strong winds and lots of rain. I expect we'll
head offshore on Thursday with nice northerlies.

Peregrine is all put away in Portsmouth, Ri. But don't think I haven't
considered how much fun it would be to do this in my boat!

Hi,

This is Eric I own Hee Soo (formerly Black Magic). She seems to have had a few
designations in terms of hull.

Here is what I know.

She came from the factory in 1993 designated as 34/36+ hull but had the triple
spreader offshore rig. Some time around 2000 or so she was retrofitted with the
6'4" Rob Ball designed "mid-draft" keel replacing the 7'4" original.

I have seen her rated as an XL and currently is rated by YRALIS as an XLMD (for
mid-draft).

Best,

Eric

Any one know how to get a hold of Eric owner of C&C 34r "BLACK MAGIC"? I'm
