I did Alera's last winter with the Boatleather kit w pad. I used my bike stand and a car wheel lock I had laying rand to make a stand. That helped a. Lot. I also used the project as an excuse to get a decent pair of sailing gloves at the boat show in Seattle. Gloves are a must if you want tight knots and don't want to shred your hands.
It was pretty easy. The video helped, though doing it left handed made the video a little more difficult t follow.
