We have two boats going up. Both are originally from the Boston area, one has
been back to Boston (Blew Bird) and won the Nationals in 2005 (owner traded use
of his boat for a ride with the crew/sails from Washington - now will be doing
it on his own). We are in the other boat - called Taaris - which came from up
there and has been sailing down here and is undergoing a complete refit as we
speak. New sails, bottom, etc.
We will moor at Savin Hills YC, launch at So. Boston YC and race on Quincy Bay
- my friend says the currents in the course area are not bad. I understand
there is a pretty good contingent of Tbird racers up there - he has been pretty
successful down here after spending a few years learning and tuning his boat,
and that tuning is supposed to transfer to 'ours'.
I have a learning curve, both for Boston and for the Tbird - my tiller
experience is on J-24's and a J-80 so we will be practicing against the Blew
boat.
Thanks for the hints.
Gary
