as martin de young says when offshore, older dated gear still handy ..still have B&G rdf...with hand bering compass,still usable to home in on high wattage radio stations when required.......have two units if anyone wants one for museum collection.....the heath kit rdf..really takes you back before vhf .had double sideband radio for communication...were interesting times...vhf,loran a ,,loran c ..gps all great to have,.makes navigation really simple.
