I've thought about crowdsourcing water quality sampling of the (local) St Johns River in NE Florida. Never been sure of sampling (acquisition) requirements nor of who'd take the data. Sailors have a lot of "keel in the game" with respect to better depth data in shallower areas. However, standardizing the data acquisition would require additional hardware/cost.
