I had one attached by cord to a shackle at base of forestay when I had
the roller furling unit on Nut Case. When using RF sail we of course
did not use this. When not using RF sail we would drop the swivel on
the RF down to drum level (this involved removing the feeder starter on
the foil, dropping the swivel and then replacing the feeder starter).
When running the non furling sail we would attach tack to the hook below
the RF and use the prefeeder on the cord.

This may sound confusing but it allowed us to have full hoist sails when
not using RF and not to be forced to use a shackle on a drunm for tack
attachment. The RF sail was basically just a delivery or day sail.

Subject: Re: Stus-List Pre-feeder for jib

Hi Joel,

Take a good look at the boats that are racing well, and see how they do
it. The pre-feeder is often on a shock corded line so it re-tracks and
stays out of the way, likely mounted on the foil. Do cut the sail
luff-line, in just the right place so the pre-feeder can release itself
- otherwise you will have a real mess when you pull the sail down and
need to do a dip-pole jibe! Been there!

I this doesn't make sense, you need a sail-maker visit.

Good luck, Lee

Yes the pricey roller pre-feeders work better, but you still need a good
bow feeding it smooth and fast.
