Hello - Been a member of this digest since late 90's, but haven't had time to
monitor the board very often. I decided to take on a big project and finally
replace the trusty old 2QM20 in my 1979 C&C34 with a (new to me) yanmar 3GM30F.
Will try and share info as I go, but the first (daunting) task appears to be
getting the old 2QM out of the boat. Looks like I will need to disassemble most
of it so it squeezes through the cut out behind the companionway stairs. So if
anyone has done this project, I would love to hear about your experience.

Also, if anyone has installed a 3GM30, especially in a 34, would love to
compare notes. The footprint of the 3GM is a bit shorter on all sides, so in
order to reuse the brackets from the 3GM, I may need to add thickness to the
engine bed rails/risers. The good news appears to be the 34's engine bed area
is designed with a slop (higher fwd at 13" and shorter in stern at 5") so that
the shaft will align nicely once the 3GM is fitted.

Thanks again.. happy to be back perusing this digest..
