I certainly wish I'd converted to wire when I redid the rig. I wanted to, as I was just going to cruise the boat. I let the rigger (and he was the best in town) talk me out of it.

A few years later I reminded him of that. He said that when we started he thought we could reuse a lot of the fittings, although in the end we replaced everything from the chainplate bolts to the studs that cross the mast.

I ask around here in Mexico, and there isn't a single rigger yet who could rehead or work with rod.
