Just don’t move to the southeast coast of Florida. You would probably be paying
3-4K for decent coverage. The rates there are staggering.

Subject: Stus-List Update: Insurance on a LF38 & the sale of a C&C 29-1

Hi,

I few months back I had some questions regarding insuring a C&C landfall 38.
At the time I had
my C&C 29-1 insured through Progressive, and Progressive would only add the
LF38 with liability
coverage only.

I recently sold my C&C 29-1, so I went online to change my Progressive policy
and I noticed that
Progressive had the wrong year (1985) for the LF38. I called Progressive and
had them fix this and
they said that as long as the HIN was correct, which it was, then there would
have been no problem.

I then dropped the policy on the 29-1, and then agent asked if there was
anything else. I asked what
my options were for adding coverage to the LF38. I got full coverage! They
even gave me my
vanishing deductible credits ($15 deductible instead of $1,000). The policy
cost is not much more than it
was for the 29-1(~$700/yr). Wow, what a difference a few months makes.

I want to thank the list for the behind the scene help in selling my C&C 29-1.
Many of the discussions about what and
where to list were very helpful. As too were the several C&C ad examples, some
of which I heavily
cobbled info and style from. I posted in 6 areas on Craiglist and on Sailing
Texas. I was fortunate to sell the boat within
a week of advertising. She was a fun boat to sail, and I will truly miss her.

  Subject: Stus-List insuring a 38 landfall

  Hi

I currently use Progressive for insuring my C&C 29. I called them to insure
the 38 Landfall and I was informed that they do not insure sailboat over 35'
in length. They did how ever added the 38LF on to my policy for the
remainder of the policy year (Aug) , but informed me that the policy will
  not be renewable.

I have been looking for other insurance companies, and so far I have
received only one quote as most companies are not interested. The quote
came from BoatUS, but I was shocked that the quote is 4 times more than what
I am currently paying at Progressive. Does $2,600/yr seem reasonable?
What insurance companies are others using?

  Thanks for any insight.

  Paul
