I'm out cruising so I can't do the research to find a link to the info but... If you google around enough you should find some info on a known Yanmar 2GM20 issue involving the starter relay. IF this is your problem, it won't be fixed without installing a second relay.
I don't know how many years they made them like this but I'm gonna guess yours is approx a 1988? If I get to a wifi signal and can use my iPad I'll try and find more info Rob Gallagher.
