Danny - I've been using Quicken since the 1980's.

These days it's easy -- just push a button and all transactions for your linked accounts are downloaded into your computer. Back then it was much tougher, and I had to dedicate an afternoon a month to data input. But it's worth it. Some people assume I have a 'bunch' of money, but the truth is that I just keep control of the little that I have, know where it's coming from and where it's going.

For years, every morning I'd make coffee, and run two custom reports which were basically a P/L and Balance Sheet. One was titled 'Cash Out Value' to let me know how much money I'd have if I checked out and took off on the boat. It helped me to meet my defined objective. And it's cheap. I wouldn't use the new on-line version, though, because I wouldn't want all that information on someone else's server, that could be subpenaed.

Down here, though, it's a cash economy, and I'm back to the 1980's...
