Cal 40 & newport 41S designs PROBABLY TWO BEST SURFERS in 40ft yachts....... designed just about change from CCA rule to IOR one ....most newport 41s can surf but newport 41S fastest &best downwind performer....a very close hull design to redline 41s ...a CCA rule great sailor....not pounding like many later c&cs....newport 41 cuthbertson design...if i was looking @ 40 ft size would consider either for offshore work....dont pound or throw a lot of spray in rough seas a pleasure to sail in the worst of conditions..
