That zeus sounds interesting. Would be nice to have the laylines. Are they set at 45 dgrees? Can you set them lower?

I've got a Zeus touch 7 version 2 and it's everything they say it is and then some. In addition to navigation it's the integration point for all electronics on the boat. You can get engine "gauges" displayed, you can control audio, it can broadcast via wifi to your Ipad / android device which can be used as a repeater / actually control it. It ties radar / sonar (High def bottom scanning / imaging), autopilot, you can get live weather info via Sirius with local wind, you can get Sirius audio too.. All in a nice touch screen interface. It's so jam packed with features, to get the most out of it you do have to invest an hour or 2 reading the manual. Once you've done it and tried the functions, it's easy to remember how to do stuff as there are typically 2-3 ways to get where you want (touch / pinch access critical stuff with both menus and buttons) You'll find at least 1 or 2 that are intuitive / easy to remember. I love the "sailsteer" functionality. Since it's aware of bearing / wind / boat speed / GPS position you give it a waypoint / it will show you the laylines. Long and short you get the optimized spot for your next jibe / tack taking all sensor info into account including current and tides (Internally calculated via 10 hz GPS/GLONASS position shifting) . It works really well. The last race I used it I saved 2 tacks (on a 5 miles up-wind run) compared to the guy ahead of me .. You also get other derived info such as VMG I typically mix nav with a wind rose gauge and a ton more data points all in one screen. The latest cool stuff the new GoFree Branded apps / services. Where you can get a personalized mapping service with social Map community data sharing, and a bunch of other stuff. The Gofree shop will also provide the ability to download the latest software / maps directly to your plotter via wifi.. (I believe you have to get the $199.00 Wifi-1 add-on module) It was a bit of a project to install the NMEA 2000 network on the boat. I took the opportunity to that while it was on the hard with the mast down last year. It was well worth the investment in time and money, now I have network access throughout the boat and adding any sensor / new gauge is a simple plug and play deal. Particularly the Zeus Touch T8, now on sale for $807 I still have an RC-80 Raymarine which works fine, but all these new features, plus many, many more make my knees go weak. Any Comments? Another observation, I notice that Defender has nothing from Garmin anymore. I wonder if they pulled their plug for not playing by the rules and selling below their "suggested" prices. ?
