Just check out the intensity (lumens) and get really bright ones that also have
low intensity and of course red.

I haven't sailed the Southern Ocean, but I've done a lot in the Atlantic and
Caribbean and I still haven't found a headlamp (including Petzl) that can stand
up to the salty goodness that the sea throws in my face all too often.
