I strongly suggest going to http://www.moyermarine.com/. The forum there is extremely helpful with A4 issues and that is where you'll be getting the shop manual and parts.

The other items needed will be identified by the inspection & repair process. I. E.: cylinder wear = oversize rings, worn valve guides, bearing clearance checks (plastigauge). In a normal teardown bearings & rings are automatic because of the ease of replacement while everything is apart. But if you don't put many hours on anyhow and cost is an issue then something within spec, albeit worn a bit, could still provide a dozen more years of service. <insert off topic drift to diesel replacement of Atomic bomb :) > cheers, Russ Sweet 35 mk-1 At 12:19 PM 10/10/2015, you wrote: Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_Part_1817076_1012849173.1444504755751" Content-Length: 2460 We are pulling the A4 from our C&C 30 '73 tomorrow and my son is going to work on it over the winter for his term project in auto shop class. The motor gets light use in fresh water so I do not want to go with electronic ignition or other bells and whistles. The boat has little residual value despite the fact that it is structurally solid and a hell of a lot of fun to sail and cruise in, so I do not want to invest too much in the rebuild. What do you suggest replacing on it while we have it out?
