A very important distinction (made before by others) when talking about rebedding windows/ports/port lights is whether the window is the old style, i.e. aluminium frame attached to the cabintop and a lens attached to the frame or, the newer style which is a lens glued directly to the the outside of the cabintop,
This distinction eluded me for quite awhile when reading threads about rebedding windows/ports/port lights. I have the old style windows and am very happy using butyl to seal the frames to the outside of the cabintop (along with the screws that attach the frame to the cabintop). (Here, there's a difference between attaching and sealing.) The newer windows/ports/port lights rely on a very strong adhesive to both attach and seal the lens to the outside of the cabintop.
