Every so often, somebody’s email address and contact list gets hacked. As a
result, we get spam emails on the list.

I cannot stop these messages from coming through. They appear to be legitimate
because the owner of the address is a subscribed member.

A couple of suggestions:

a) If you are using a public email address such as gMail, Yahoo, Google,
Hotmail, etc., make it a practice to change your password on a regular basis.
b) Do not use a public network – stick with your home or business (naughty)
unless it is absolutely necessary.
c) If you see a suspicious email – look at the subject line – if it does not
look legitimate – delete the message. This is another reason to keep the
subject line relative to the content.
d) If you do open the email and there is not too much content and just a link –
do not be stupid enough to click on it (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED).

No I cannot delete the message unless somebody wants to send me $35 US each
time we get a spam.

Usually, I will send our member a brief note that their email address and
contact list has been hacked. Unless they do not do anything about it, I have
no other alternative but to unsubscribe them.

Spammers are like the Energizer Bunny who does not quit but with a little bit
of prevention, you stop yourself from getting burnt.

Merry Christmas
Stu
