On our 30 mkII we have an 8" screw access port in the port cabin for access. In the head we have an access hatch for dipstick etc. The hatch is much more preferable. Something similar to this. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/tempress--access-hatches-with-slam-or-cam-latches--P024_720_002_003
