I have OpenPlotter running on a Raspberry Pi B+. It includes SignalK. Everything pretty much works the only problem I have is that the SignalK protocol isn't being used by anyone. No apps, no vendors. So you can watch some data on any WiFi device via a web browser AND you don't have to have an extra app to view it. Theoretically, I can make that data available to anyone in the world but the boat would need a constant internet connection. This is feasible when in the slip and using the marina WiFi. Maybe even as a drag alarm if away from the boat at a foreign anchorage near wifi.
It has potential when the croudsourced data can be used but until then signalk is kinda unless. The NMEA over IP is just as (if not more) useful. Which the OpenPlotter also offers... But so do so many of the MFDs. Josh Muckley S/V Sea Hawk 1989 C&C 37+ Solomons, MD My box arrives today. Not sure when I'll get it hooked up or how to use it. The perfect project!
