I've tied and whipped what few bungees exist on my boat.  When whipping I
stretch it to the limit and whip it as tight as possible.  When tying, I
make sure to snug it tight and pull on both the load line and bitter end.
I also use knots like figure eights, sheep shanks, and bowlines.  Nothing
like a square, granny, or overhand.

I was afraid someone was going to tell me something i didn't know about the
load distribution on the elastomer core was going to be compromised byche
tying and that hog rings were specially designed to eliminate the point
loading... Bla, bla, bla.   Nope they are just simple, quick, cheap, and
effective.  Got it.  Thanks guys.
