Andy, we are jealous! I also have a Ray e7 and an iPad. I've also installed a small form factor PC and monitor running OpenCPN. I have a GPS dongle for it and will attempt to integrate it into the rest of my instruments.
In a thunderstorm I throw the iPad, handheld VHF and phone in the microwave. Then I forget where I left it.
