Fred,

Yes — the backbone is properly terminated — made sure all terminators were in 
place (heck, I even subscribed to Robert Patrick on Twitter — he played the 
T1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day)

And yes, everything will be protected. I use a very high-tech 
marine-environment-proof container (a babies bottle, with the wires passing 
through the rubber nipple.)
