I just did this. I brought the lines home that were easy to remove, and
took a big bin out to the boat for the tails of the ones that were going to
be a pain in the butt to remove.
Every two or three years I will run messengers and bring all the lines
home.
Anyhow...filled the bin with water and a mild Oxiclean solution. Dumped the
tails in there and stirred them for a few hours, then left them overnight
to soak. Next day, drain and rinse X3.

Lines at home, straight into the laundry tub and soak in Oxiclean for a few
hours, then drain and chuck lines into the washing machine with a little
Woolite. Warm wash, cold rinse.
Smaller lines go in mesh bags, anything over 3/8" just goes in.

NEVER wash new lines in a washing machine. Anything that has had strain on
it, to set the line, should be OK.
