I asked Rob Ball about doing that to my deep draft 40 and he replied something to the effect of, "if I'd thought it was a good idea, I would have designed the boat that way!" I'd love to have a shallower boat, but I'd hate to lose the wonderful way she sails. Sailing wins! It's like a fellow who would love it if his wife was calmer, but a lobotomy would take away all the stuff he loves too.
