For some reason, the first link connecting to the rope seems to get way more corroded than any other part of the chain/rode assembly, possibly because it is buried in the chain locker with a bunch of salty wet rope. The swivel end was never a problem on my setup. Until the swivel itself broke and dropped a nice 35-lb Delta to the bottom in 40 feet of water... The best thing would be to see if there is an issue after a few months with a galvanized shackle. At least that end is usually easy to keep track of, especially if the anchor lives on a roller. Having that shackle on deck also allows it to be rinsed with fresh water regularly.
