We had an 81 C&C 36 from 1980 thru 1990. Dad used to single hand it regularly but he was only 55 when he sold the boat. I don’t think a few more years would make much difference. The genoa is bigger on the 6 than on the 30 but realistically a 120-130% genoa on the 36 with the larger winches should not be that much harder to handle than a 150 on a 30. Likely not any harder
36 has the main sheet on the coachroof so you would most likely cleat it and just leave it as you tack. Some on this list have worked out ways to bring the sheet back to where it can be controlled from behind the binnacle. While the 36 would not be labelled as stiff as the 30 it is also a much larger boat. The extra waterline and displacement will make it very suitable for cruising along the coast of Nova Scotia and likely better than the 30 in the waves as a result as well. The 36 is a great boat. You will not regret it (of course all of the C&Cs of that era were pretty great boats) Mike Persistence 1987 Frers 33 #16 (sorry – not a C&C) http://users.eastlink.ca/~mhoyt -----Original Message----- From: Mike Casey via CnC-List <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> To: cnc-list <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Cc: Mike Casey <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Sent: Tue, Dec 12, 2017 11:59 am Subject: Re: Stus-List C&C Photo Album owners database I am thinking of a 1978 C&C 36. Can anyone give me any intelligence on these boats? I currently have a C&C 30. I like how stiff it is. Would anyone know how the C&C 36 would compare? I'll be using it for coastal cruising in Nova Scotia. Would it be too much to handle for an old guy (65 years of age). Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.
