This thread about WiFi antenna installations and hotspots is very similar to what we experience in the motor home. Many campgrounds offer some type of wifi but in a lot of cases it sucks or is too expensive to use. I have an Ideaworks Long Distance USB-Powered Wi-Fi Antenna in the motor home (Amazon $31.80). It does work long range and does improve reception for weaker signals.
The antenna also works as a repeater when connected to my laptop wifi hotspot program. A neighbor 5 lots down the road had no internet service. I hooked up my system and he got 5 bars using my connection.
Xfinity/Comcast has a program where you can use the Xfinity wifi hotspots all over using just your own username and password. I know that there are 50-60 Xfinity hotspots in the park and my antenna picks them all up. I did share a Comcast account a couple of years ago and it worked without any cost to me. People who use Xfinity cable wifi modem automatically become a hotspot and they do not know you are connected.
All I need is a username and password to try it.
