Hello all

We plan to convert our icebox into a fridge on our 1981 C&C 34 and are looking
for advice from people who may have done this. For example which unit did you
buy, how has it worked, where did you mount the compressor, did you add
ventilation, how many amps does it use, did you add insulation and if so how.
We are looking at a Nova Kool, but have also considered the more expensive
ozefridge.

Our icebox has about 7 cubic feet of space and the original insulation. With
the small amount of visibility that we have into the area around the icebox it
seems to be full of foam so it would be difficult to inject anything in there.
To take everything apart and get into the area around the icebox looks like a
very daunting task. Since the icebox is large adding insulation inside would be
easier but wondering if we really need to. We are in the pacific northwest so
the water is cold and the days don't get too hot. Normally two blocks of ice
will last three or four days as long as we don't cycle too much beer through
it.

We recently installed a new Beta engine with a large alternator but still only
have two house batteries and one starter. A challenge is an absence of room for
an additional battery where the others are in under the quarter berth, so any
comments on that would be nice.

Any help is appreciated.
