Thinking more about this, I dredged from memory a reason why the Selden and Lewmar probably won’t work, but not because of the lack of a swivel. The hole in the furler is 1/4” and they list the pin as 6mm which is slightly smaller. However, I think the issues is that they don’t count the diameter of the threaded portion which may be more than 1/4” such that it won’t go through a 1/4” hole. I will swing by Defender at some point and measure to see if this is true and report back (unless someone has one handy).
I don’t ever change sails while racing, and I do not change sails frequently, but when I do it is because it is howling and I need a smaller genoa, and that is a difficult time to be on the foredeck playing with 2 sets of clevis pins and cotter rings, even bouncing around at the mooring. Haven’t dropped one yet, but it will happen. Also, I am usually shorthanded and I always want the furler available when I need it.
