Tank senders are cheap conductivity probes.  When the water completes the
circuit you get a light.  As you can imagine repair/replacement is a
constant battle since corrosion in a water environment is nearly impossible
to stop.  I installed the iseries tank level monitoring system from
techedge.  It uses external "moda" sensors which I believe work on a
capacitive coupling theory kinda similar to the screen on your smartphone.
The nice thing is that a single unit can monitor up to 8 tanks AND the
level can be calibrated to the volume in 10% increments... Oh and
installation is completey external to the tank.

As for the force10 ignitor you should find that it is powered by a AA
battery.  Many of these fail because the batteries leak juice and corrode
the wiring.  Repair as needed.  As for replacing - I haven't investigated
and simply keep a multitude of lighters onboard.
