I will be accompanying the Admiral as she makes a business trip to central Long Island in a couple weeks. I'll have a free day or two. I see some maritime museums listed in the area. Any of them worthwhile? Any other things that are recommended?
Dennis C. Touche' 35-1 #83 Mandeville, LA Dennis, If you enjoy wine and wish to rent a car, the wineries on the North Fork of Long Island are worth visiting. If you are an oenophile, email me at [email protected] and I can share our favorites with you. Shelter Island is nice, but not much to see unless you like nature trails and a really quaint setting. Sag Harbor can be impressive as it is the playground for the rich and famous. When we sailed in, the boat behind us radioed "what are all those hotels doing near the water". They were not hotels, just 150 -250 yachts! If you want to take the ferry to New London from Port Jeff, the Mystic Seaport is worth the trip. Enjoy the trip.
