I believe the Gowrie Group is the insurance agency that offers the group health insurance for US Sailing members. One of the criteria for joining is that you are a cruising sailor. Before I went on Medicare, I had my coverage there for several years. The coverage was provided by GeoBlue – Blue Cross for the rest of the world. Outside the US the coverage was 100% with no copay or deductibles, inside the US it was the same plan as Blue Cross. And my cost was considerably less than half the cost of Blue Cross individual coverage in North Carolina. BTW, they also offer Medicare supplement plans that will provide coverage when outside the US. I’m keeping that in mind for when I actually leave to go cruising.
