When I was buying adjustable Jib cars, I talked to someone at Garhauer about 
their bearing style, I said ‘it doesn’t  look like they recirculate – it seems 
like when they move, all the bearings move a little bit one way and then they 
all scrub on each other because there is nowhere for them to go’    He said,  
‘Well, we have never had any complaints’.

 

I bought the Harkens.

Garhauer changed their car design to plastic slides instead of ball bearings.  
The reason given was that too many people were loosing the balls when 
installing them.  They will supply the ball bearing ones if requested.  They 
are much better in my opinion.

The cars were sufficiently robust to use them on my 42 Custom, so I kept them 
when I moved up (same old track).  Two issues: 1) the cars do not roll as well 
as Harken (and possibly other brands), so if this issue is paramount, you may 
want to look at other brands; and 2) some brand name cars are big enough to 
accept a second sheet (temporarily).  My Garhauer cars are not, which is 
another downside.  Perhaps this has been remedied in newer designs?
