I have a metal rod in front of the rudder, which I believe is to help avoid seaweed and other floating debris from fouling the rudder post. Nothing at all in front of the keel though.

All the C&C's in our yard have a metal rod that protrudes from the underside just ahead of the keel.? No one seems to know its purpose.
