Thread creep – aircraft weight is critical and legally you have to have paperwork with the actual weight of the aircraft onboard, not the marketing department idea before things most people want like radios get added. The weight of the people aboard is critical too on smaller aircraft and I learned to add 20 pounds to whatever my female passengers told me they weighed LOL For larger aircraft and larger boats too the USCG and FAA allow estimated weights. A tour boat in the Finger Lakes capsized with fatalities and it was discovered the many decades old stability calculations assumed the average adult weight was something like 140 pounds! Last time I did calculations for a 737 the FAA had adults at 170 pounds summer, 190 winter, and baggage at 44 pounds per bag IIRC.
