Hi Ray,

 

You don't need a baby stay or messing with blocks to set your pre-bend. 

 

I do neither and I have me pre-bend set "by the book"

 

You need to set your forestay length to get the appropriate amount of rake for 
your boat then just tighten your base backstay tension to get the pre-bend you 
need. 

 

To measure the pre-bend you run your main halyard down to your gooseneck, 
tighten it and look at the distance between the halyard and the mast half-way 
up the mast.  Mine is set for 3 inches on our 34+.
