FYI - this is what happens when you lose fuel pressure. The fuel pump is turned off at the start of this video: http://www.dellabarba.com/sailing/a4/A4.mp4 It is a bit boring, but I did not edit the interlude between loss of pressure and shutdown to give a feeling for how long it takes. Note the gauge turns red when pressure falls below 1 PSI. The same gauge will work on a diesel as well.
