I have a few of these in various sizes. Mostly the foam is cut out to fit camera gear, but I have one small one with the middle part of the foam removed I use on the boat for wet dinghy trips. These things are great for throwing car keys, wallets, phones, etc. into. The contents stay dry even in drenching rain and the cases float unless loaded with lead weights. This is also a great way to carry expensive cameras on and off the boat and store them aboard. A lot of Harbor Freight stuff is crap, but these cases are not. I have a “real” Pelican case and honestly I can’t tell the difference. In other cheap sailor news, so far the Minwax Urethane Spar Varnish I used on some teak has held up as well as anything and it actually scored well on a Practical Sailor test of marine varnishes. I don’t have the article in front of me, but the Minwax varnish beat a number of “marine” coatings. * For the camera cases I sprayed the hell out of the foam with spray-on black Flex Seal. It stunk until it dried, but after that it did a good job reinforcing the foam. Otherwise sometimes it can come apart on the pre-cut seams. The foam is designed to be easy to design by pulling little pieces out to make designs. Joe Della Barba Coquina C&C 35 MK I Kent Island MD USA
