To me, from a logical perspective, the slash in S/V doesn’t make any sense. It’s an acronym for Sailing Vessel, not Sailing/Vessel, so why put a slash in it? I could understand SV or S.V. much more readily. But on the other hand, if there’s some kind of longstanding tradition that makes S/V the most proper stylization, then I guess I could comply with tradition instead of logic. And, to be fair, I shouldn’t have excluded lowercase s/v as a possible stylization, because I’ve seen it used too. But to me that’s even less logical than S/V.
