I had this same problem occur a month ago. You can send emails to a user at
one of the virtual domains on the box, but it will no relay mail from that
user out of the box. In my problem I was trying to use the
"virtualdomain.com" as the SMTP server...which had been working up until a
few weeks before.
After reading through manuals, the knowledgebase, I finally broke and called
support. It seems this is a known issue and requires a "patch" called 'POP
before relay" in order to work. This patch however is completly
unsupported, even though referred to by the cobalt Tech. If this is what
you were referring to after installing the 4.0 OS update, let me know and I
can get into it further with you.
