Thanks, I think that should temporary do it, yet is it possible to add to
the httpd.conf globally so that all virtual sites follow the rule that no
files should be listed if a document root file type is not present...

Several ways, the easiest being, create a index.html page leave it blank or
put restricted Folder in it and it will sho instead of the Dir List. Or use
a .htaccess to control access to the folder.
