CobaltRaq Tales of Woe and Incompetent Service Our own experience. ~~~~~~~~~~ Cobaltracks, a hosting company that runs only on Cobaltracks, obviously do not know how to do even basic server admin. We had our Cobalt Raq3 server's Apache webserver die when it couldn't find certain log files. Instead of just creating empty logfiles ( which would have taken about 30 seconds to do), Cobaltracks tech guys decided the only way to reactivate the server was to re-install the OS, thereby wiping all our data ( including about 50 hours worth of upgrades and extra software ) off the server. Needles to say, we dumped the server and terminated our business with them. OK, I know we should have had backups, but beeing in South Africa, running a server in America, it was very difficult. And the problem really did not need a new OS. ~~~~~~~~~ Next one from [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~~~~~~~~~ Add this one in - we originally contracted with the idiots at Interliant to co-host. They wouldn't return a tech call for 3 months. The only call I got was the one to tell me that my server (which had never even been configured) ran up at $3000 bandwidth bill and I should consider another rate plan. I'm in the middle of suing them now. I run my own servers co-hosted at our local ISP now :) ~~~~~~~~~~ Evan Booyens Systems Admin Net4u / Grand-Host www.net4u.co.za [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cell: 082 331 5326 Evan Booyens Systems Admin Net4u / Grand-Host www.net4u.co.za [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cell: 082 331 5326 _______________________________________________ cobalt-developers mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-developers
