I guess this question is more for the cobalt/sun people. Do you guys plan to put out .pkg files for new PERL versions as they come out? Or are we tied into the old versions forever? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Scaglione Ermanno Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2001 3:10 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: AW: [cobalt-developers] Perl 5.6 on Raq 4 Recently someone installed perl 5.6.1 on our Raq4, as already pointed out in this list the admin no longer works. After a day spent trying to solve the problem I found a solution, it is not easy and not fast but it works. install perl 5.6.1 in /usr/bin overwriting the old one (dont forget DB_File libdb2.x). Just do a >>rpm -q --whatrequires perl that is the result on my raq4: autoconf-2.13-5 automake-1.4-6 cvs-1.10.8-C1 libnet-1.0606-1 libwww-perl-5.43-1 postgresql-perl-7.0.2-2C1 Data-Dumper-2.101-1 Digest-MD5-2.07-1 HTML-Parser-2.23-1 LWPng-alpha-0.24-1 MIME-Base64-2.11-1 WebFS-FileCopy-1.00-1 URI-1.02-1 perl-MD5-1.7-6 Authen-PAM.pm-0.04-1 perl-Devel-Symdump-2.00-2 perl-quota-1.2.3-1C1 perl-XML-Parser-2.26-2 gettext-pm-1.01-1 postgresql-perl-7.0.2-2 at this point simply download all the SRPM for those pagages and do for each a >>rpm --rebuild XXXXXX.src.rpm >>rpm -i --force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/XXXXXX.rpm if you just need the admin you need only the following pakages perl-quota-1.2.3-1C1 perl-XML-Parser-2.26-2 gettext-pm-1.01-1 postgresql-perl-7.0.2-2 (you need to recompile the whole postgres stuff, and install only this rpm) I absolutely dont recommend this procedure, but if you get in trouble like me, it is faster than a full restore, and gives you perl 5.6.1... -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Im Auftrag von Richard Badua Gesendet: Montag, 25. When you compile it, just use --prefix=/usr/local because the original is installed in /usr. hope this helps -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of DZ-Jay Sent: Saturday, June 23, 2001 11:48 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [cobalt-developers] Perl 5.6 on Raq 4 I tried it and it DOES break all the web-admin gui stuff.
