Tim, Many thanks for solution ( I see its no longer in the archives!). Worked fine. I had to redo installations back to the JDK1.3.1. There was a minor problem with clearing out the old Tomcat 3.2.1 installation before Tomcat 3.2.3 installed. However, this was minor compared with Tomcat not firing up at all! Again, many thanks for advice. Mel
